Dear Glasscock Community,
I am writing today to let you know that, per public health authorities, the COVID-19 (coronavirus) risk remains low to the Glasscock School and the rest of the Rice University campus. Rice continues to work closely with Harris County Public Health and the Houston Health Department to manage this situation. The health and safety of Rice visitors, students, instructors, faculty and staff remains our highest priority. We are monitoring the COVID-19 situation world-wide, and will take further action if warranted and as advised.
See https://emergency.rice.edu/coronavirus for all updates and related information.
In order to keep our risk low, we ask that you practice healthy habits and practice general flu prevention measures including:
- Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue or sleeve
- Wash your hands regularlyAvoid touching your face
- Avoid close contact with people who are sick
- Stay home if you’re feeling sick
These steps remain the best defense against the coronavirus, flu and other communicable diseases. As always, we will continue our daily disinfection practices. Finally, please help us prevent stigmatization by becoming familiar with the facts about COVID-19 and support your community with compassion and kindness. Visit the CDC website for information on countering social stigmatization associated with COVID-19.
For additional questions about the University’s preparations and response, please email gscs@rice.edu.
Thank you for your support and patience as we navigate this evolving situation.
Sincerely,
Robert Bruce
