Rebecca Sharp
BIOGRAPHY

Rebecca Sharp is Director of Interdisciplinary Studies at Rice University, where she has provided strategic leadership since the program’s inception in 2005. She also serves as the Glasscock School’s liaison to the university on matters related to credit-bearing programs and accreditation, playing a central role in academic policy, program compliance, and institutional alignment. With more than 30 years of experience in higher education, Ms. Sharp has led key initiatives in curriculum development, interdisciplinary program design, and academic innovation. Her leadership reflects a strong commitment to inclusive, student-centered education and the advancement of lifelong learning. In addition to her administrative role, Ms. Sharp is an Adjunct Lecturer in Interdisciplinary Studies, where she teaches the graduate Capstone Seminar, guiding students in designing and executing culminating projects that integrate their academic interests and professional goals.

Her university service includes co-chairing the Rice Staff Advisory Committee and serving on the University Committee on the Library. She is a member of Voices for Rice and was recognized as a Centennial Star in 2012 for her contributions to the university community. Nationally, she has served on the Board of the Association of Graduate Liberal Studies Programs (AGLSP) since 2015 and currently holds the role of Treasurer on the Executive Board.

Ms. Sharp holds a B.S. in Geography and an M.S. in Higher Education Administration from Texas A&M University. A lifelong learner and avid reader, she enjoys gardening, spending time in nature, and exploring Texas state parks.
