George Zombakis
BIOGRAPHY

George Zombakis serves as the Assistant Director of Professional & Corporate Programs at the Glasscock School of Continuing Studies. In this role, he oversees a diverse portfolio of successful face-to-face and online programs including human resources, legal studies, project management, communication, healthcare, and leadership. His commitment to program development ensures that the curriculum remains relevant and timely, equipping students with the skills necessary to meet the evolving demands of today’s workforce.

In addition to his programmatic contributions, George serves as co-chairman of the GSCS Workforce Innovation & Opportunity Act Committee to identify eligible professional development funding for student education. Through his efforts, he has secured approval for multiple programs through the Texas Workforce Commission, enabling the provision of high-demand scholarships for career changers and underrepresented communities.

George previously chaired the Rice University Staff Council Professional Development Committee, where he successfully expanded access to growth and learning opportunities for Rice University staff. He was instrumental in creating a centralized hub for career and skill-building resources, which has become an essential asset for the community. Additionally, George played a key role in launching the Staff Council Webinar Series, offering staff valuable opportunities to learn from experts on a variety of relevant topics.

George has a master’s degree in museum studies from Texas Tech University and a bachelor’s degree in art history from George Mason University and holds industry-recognized certifications for the SHRM Certified Professional and the Certified Workforce Development Professional, showcasing his commitment to professional development and expertise in human resources and workforce training.
