Opened in 2014, the 53,000-square-foot, Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold certified Anderson-Clarke Center (ACC) helps the Glasscock School increase its scope, grow its enrollment, and continue to make a progress-focused impact on the Houston community and beyond. With 24 classrooms, three conference rooms, a language center, a freestanding auditorium, two commons areas, four art installations, two art galleries and a terrace overlooking the Texas Medical Center, the three-story ACC represents the diverse student body it serves, facilitating multiple purposes with creativity, innovation, and flexibility.
Named for Rice trustee emeritus Kent Anderson ’62 and his wife, Linda Anderson, and Rice trustee emeritus Robert Clarke ’63 and his late wife, Jean (“Puddin”), the ACC is home to nearly 50 staff members, hundreds of instructors and thousands of annual student enrollments. Fittingly, the ACC is positioned at Entrance 8, the most used entry point for Rice’s campus, greeting visitors as Houston’s gateway to the Rice experience.
