Step Into Your Next AP Course with Confidence
Whether teaching a new AP subject or new to teaching AP altogether, the New AP Teacher Community of Practice (COP) will prepare you to step confidently into the AP classroom. Through a supportive, year-long peerbased experience, led by nationally recognized AP experts, you will be equipped with the tools, strategies and connections needed to set both you and your students up for immediate success.
Participants will:
* Master the essentials of the College Board’s AP Classroom to maximize this powerful resource
* Gain insights into high-impact areas including pacing, unit quizzes, free-response questions and proven instructional best practices
* Receive direct guidance throughout the year through virtual office hours with expert facilitators *Earn a Rice University Certificate of Completion and 10 CPE hours by attending all sessions
* Develop a network of passionate peers who will serve as a community of support through this experience and across your career
COP Tracks
Our two distinct COP tracks separate complete AP newcomers from experienced teachers taking on a new subject. This keeps cohorts focused, ensuring every session, resource and discussion is tailored to your specific experience level alongside peers at the exact same stage of their AP journey.
* Track 1 - Less than 2 years teaching ANY AP course
* Track 2 - Two or more years teaching AP, but teaching a brand NEW AP course
Schedule
* Sept. 19, 2026 - In-Person at Rice (4 hours)
* Nov. 7, 2026 - In-Person at Rice (3 hours)
* Feb. 27, 2027 - In-Person at Rice (3 hours)
Requirements
Principal or principal designee approval required.
Fee
* $250 - Includes parking voucher and breakfast.
